Meet the Team: Peter Nixon, CRM Manager
Our Meet the Team blog series highlights the amazing people behind Moixa. A big thank you to Peter, our CRM Manager, who sat down with us to discuss his role at Moixa, his commitment to the company’s mission and his passions outside work (read below to find out all about them).
Meet the Team: Peter Nixon, CRM Manager
Peter has been working for Moixa for four years and most recently as our CRM Manager. His role focuses on man
aging customer data and building out operational processes helping other team members to successfully perform their day to day roles.
Before joining Moixa, Peter worked as an energy engineer for Jacobs, a large technical consultancy. His role focused on designing energy recovery systems for the industry. He then joined the London startup scene, where he built and managed the logistics network for an innovative storage company called Lovespace.
Peter holds a Masters’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (MEng) with a specialisation in sustainable energy systems.
How did you first hear about Moixa?
Back in 2017, a mutual friend who was also going through the New Entrepreneurs Foundation fast-track programme knew I wanted to get involved in sustainable energy, and they recommended I meet Ed Gunn. The latter was Director of Operations at Moixa at the time.
What made you want to take the job?
After working in startups, I realised that I thrive in scaling businesses, and I wanted to feel like the work I did day to day would take us towards a greener and smarter future.
I remember Ed telling me over breakfast that I should join Moixa and be part of something interesting. He was right. In 2018 I made the jump to Moixa and had loved the challenge of building out its customer-focused functions.
What elements of Moixa and our business are you most passionate about?
I am very process-oriented and love to work with people. I originally joined because I strongly believed in Moixa’s mission to create a future powered by renewables. Over the years I have grown even fonder of my coworkers and the business we have built.
Everyone strives to make our customers happy, design good products, ensure the wellbeing of our staff, and so much more! It’s inspiring to work alongside individuals who look out for each other and challenge each other every day.
What happens on a typical workday for you?
In my time at Moixa, I’ve had the pleasure of talking to customers, working with installers, implementing software tools and commissioning installed systems, just to name a few. So a typical day can vary quite a lot, and I’m lucky to have worked with so many business areas.
Nowadays, I tend to be working in the background on building operational tools and processes, helping others to perform their day to day roles and enabling the roll-out of our products and services to Moixa’s clients. I’ll also support the team to fix any issues they encounter whilst using our CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software.
What is the most surprising thing you have learnt whilst working at Moixa?
I have learnt that installing a smart battery into a home sounds easy in principle, but being able to offer each of our customers a first-in-class experience can indeed be an interesting challenge.
I’m still excited about GridShare, our software offering, and how it uses AI to create an optimised charging plan for the battery, helping customers maximise the value of energy. GridShare enables smart energy management, grouping batteries in virtual power plants to provide flexibility services to support the grid. It sounded simple at first but I’ve found it takes a lot of smart people to make that work!
Read about how Moixa supported the grid by partnering with UK Power Networks to unlock flexibility at a domestic level.
What steps are you individually making towards a cleaner future?
I eat less meat than I used to, and I also try to reuse and recycle as much as possible, avoiding using plastic in the first place where I can.
During the pandemic, I even took to growing my own food on my London balcony and I am continually annoying my family and friends by turning appliances off at the plug to save electricity.

What motivates you?
I love a good challenge where the work I do has the benefit of serving others. You could say I’m a stereotypical idealistic millennial who “wants to make the world a better place”, but I find it easier to get behind a project if there is a strong cause at the heart of the mission.
What is the one thing we should know about you that isn’t on your CV or LinkedIn Profile?
After the pandemic, I took up acting as a hobby and have so far starred in two plays at my local theatre. If I’m honest, I’m just a sucker for costumes!
If you weren’t in your current role, what else do you think you would be doing?
So, it’s no lie that I love board games and all things geeky. If I wasn’t working in the renewable space, I would probably be running a board game cafe. Last year I was lucky enough to become president of my local board game club – so now I get the best of both!
What is one great piece of career advice you have been given?
“The perfect is the enemy of the good.” Too often, we worry about getting things “just right” in life, which can hold us back. It’s always better to start, make mistakes, but most importantly, make progress, and then the path ahead will form.
What are your top tips for someone who wants to work at Moixa or in the renewable energy industry?
Get to know the market and let your curiosity roam through the developments happening in energy production, storage and usage. Everything is shifting quite a lot in a relatively short space of time, so there are lots of opportunities to get involved.
