Our Meet the Team blog series highlights the amazing people behind Moixa. This week we caught up with Shakeel, our Customer Support Manager, to discuss his role and the challenges of delivering a fantastic service to our Moixa customers.

Meet the Team: Shakeel Ahmed, Customer Support Manager

Shakeel has been working for Moixa for almost three years, successfully leading the customer support team to provide dedicated support and deliver the best outcomes for our customers.

Initially starting his career at Moixa as a Customer Support Executive, he has progressed to managing the customer support team, focusing on offering technical support and resolutions to our customers and ensuring they have a great overall experience.

Before Moixa, Shakeel worked in various service-related roles and as a complaints officer.

Shakeel holds a BSc in Environmental Science.

How did you first hear about Moixa?

I first heard about Moixa through LinkedIn. I was looking for a new role and was contacted by Moixa’s internal recruiter directly on the platform.

What made you want to take the job?

At that time, Moixa was still a start-up and getting in the team at ground zero was really appealing. I was able to make my mark and have the freedom to implement changes to develop the team.

What happens on a typical workday for you?

My working day consists of striving to continuously improve our customer support, solving cases, and building new processes in order for us to deliver an overall better experience for our customers.

Ensuring a smooth end-to-end customer journey is also vital to enable our optimised batteries to support the UK grid for various flexibility services, such as Moixa’s partnership with UK Power Networks to unlock flexibility at a domestic level.

What defines a successful month for you and your team at Moixa?

A 5-star Trustpilot review always helps out, feedback from our customers is key for our team development.

What are the essential skills you need to be successful in your role?

You need to be self-motivated, dependable and supportive. Among the key skills are also being accountable and being a clear communicator.

What is the most interesting thing you have learnt whilst working at Moixa?

I’ve learnt a lot! In particular, I’ve learnt how to build a reliable and successful team and how to navigate your way in a startup environment. Moixa has also helped me grow my skills as the company provides training budgets to further my development.

What steps are you individually making towards a cleaner future?

I always try to recycle and not use single-use plastics, and if there is an alternative, I would always try to go for that option. I have also changed my diet by consuming less meat, as well as my transport to work.

If you had a magic wand, what change would you make to the energy industry?

Easy question, we’d run off renewable clean energy.

What is the one thing we should know about you that isn’t on your CV or LinkedIn Profile?

I collect sand from different beaches I’ve visited across the world.

If you weren’t in your current role, what else do you think you would be doing?

Running my own little food truck.

What is one great piece of career advice you have been given?

Be trustworthy, dependable and impactful. Make sure you provide meaning and clarity to what you say, and you’ll be successful.
